Tell us the need

Free care assessment
A registered nurse calls you, then writes a care plan with clear goals and alert thresholds.
Matched and booked
We match a verified professional by skill, distance and language. You approve before payment.
Care you can follow
Every check-in, reading and medicine appears in Remote care. Problems escalate to a nurse.
MercyCare Volunteer Corps
Give a few hours. Change someone's week.
Visit a lonely elder, give a family carer a rest, call a grandparent upcountry from abroad, or help at a disaster site. No medical training needed. We train and support you.
Why families trust us
Every professional is checked before their first visit
- Licence checked against the relevant council register: Nursing Council of Kenya, KMPDC, or the Physiotherapy Council.
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the DCI, renewed every year.
- Two professional references and a face-to-face interview.
- MercyCare orientation: infection prevention, safeguarding, dementia care and patient privacy.
- GPS-confirmed check-in and check-out on every visit, with family notified.

Remote home care support
Follow care for the sick and the aged, from anywhere
The care team logs every task, reading and medicine. Family sees it live. Readings outside the care plan's limits alert the supervising nurse.
This is an example record. Real care records open only after sign-in, for the patient, the family members they approve, and their assigned care team.

Disaster response
Deploy care to the most vulnerable when disaster strikes
When floods, fires or displacement hit, elderly, sick, disabled and special needs people lose their carers and their medicines first. MercyCare finds them at response sites and deploys verified first aiders, nurses, caregivers and community health promoters within hours.
To request a MercyCare care team for a response site, email emergency@mercycare.co.ke or call +254 107 631 070.

MercyCare Volunteer Corps
Volunteer with compassion, in person or from anywhere in the world
Volunteers bring company, relief and a helping hand to the sick, the aged, children with special needs, and communities hit by disaster. You don't need medical training: licensed professionals handle all clinical care.
Ways to help
Choose how you'd like to serve
Companion visits
Weekly visits to an elderly or housebound person: conversation, reading, a short walk, help with letters.
Carer respite
Sit with a loved one for a few hours so a family carer can rest, run errands or attend church.
Check-in calls
Regular phone or video calls with elders who live alone. Ideal for Kenyans in the diaspora.
Special needs buddy
Support children with autism or cerebral palsy at play, outings and therapy sessions, alongside their family.
Disaster response support
Registration, supplies and comfort for displaced families at response sites, under the site lead.
Community health outreach
Help at health days and screening camps, and share health messages in your language.

How we keep everyone safe
- Every volunteer is vetted before meeting a patient or child.
- Children with special needs are only supported with a parent or guardian present.
- Volunteers never give medicines or do clinical tasks; they call the care team instead.
- Each visit is logged, and families can give feedback at any time.
- A coordinator is reachable during every placement.
Safety & standards
Built to Kenyan law and international care standards
How the platform protects patients, families and professionals. Items marked "In progress" are targets for the launch roadmap.
Licensed professionals only
Licence numbers confirmed with NCK, KMPDC, COC or the Physiotherapy Council. Expiry dates tracked; profiles pause automatically when a licence lapses.
Data protection
Designed for the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019: registration with the ODPC, explicit consent, data kept in the care record, and a named data protection officer.
Digital health compliance
Aligned to the Health Act 2017 and the Digital Health Act 2023, including patient access to their own records.
Clinical governance
Every booking has a supervising registered nurse. Care plans set alert limits; readings outside them escalate within minutes.
Patient safety
WHO patient safety principles: identity checks, medication records, falls-risk screening, and incident reporting with root-cause review.
Infection prevention
IPC training before the first visit, PPE checklists, and sharps and waste handling following Ministry of Health guidelines.
Encryption and audit trail
Data encrypted in transit and at rest. Every view or change of a care record is logged with who, when and why.
ISO 27001 and HL7 FHIR
Information security certification and FHIR-based records, so care data can move to hospitals and SHA systems when the patient agrees.
Community health promoters
CHPs work under the Primary Health Care Act 2023 and their county's community health unit. Visits are recorded so they can link to the county's eCHIS when the household agrees.
First aid certification
First aiders hold a current Kenya Red Cross or St John Ambulance certificate. Expiry is tracked and they cannot be deployed with a lapsed certificate.
Disaster coordination
MercyCare teams deploy at the request of, and report to, the county emergency operations centre and lead agencies such as the Kenya Red Cross. We focus on continuity of care for vulnerable people, not search and rescue.
Accessible to everyone
Large readable type, high contrast, keyboard and screen-reader support to WCAG 2.2 AA. USSD and phone booking for families without smartphones.

Your MercyCare account
Each person sees only what their role allows: patients see their own care, families see only the people who have shared with them, and staff see only the patients they are assigned to.

Choose a role to see exactly what that person would see. All records are examples.
How access is decided
- Your role is assigned by MercyCare after your application is approved.
- Patients choose which family members can see their record, and can withdraw access at any time.
- Staff see a patient only while assigned to them.
- Every view and change is recorded in an audit log, which patients can request.
